Cycling the countryside - Essex Creeks

Who doesn’t like a simple cycle around boats and backwaters? The Essex Creeks are the estuaries of rivers Colne, Blackwater, Crouch and Roach and they spread inland. Alongside the estuaries are small lanes, some only bridleways, all of which are a delight to ride. If you’re looking for wide open views with characteristic little towns then the Essex Creeks are for you.

But watch out for the ‘Burnham Bends’ that have a right-angled turn every 300 metres for nearly 5 miles, it’s so much fun if you can get some speed!

If you’d like more of a competition you can check out Dengie Events where you will find anything from a Triathlon to a simple cycle.
